Studio Debris: A Bit of Everything, A Lot of Nothing takes its title from the material that surrounds any working studio — the offcuts, scraps and half-finished things that accumulate around a practice without ever being made for a wall. Photographs, polaroids, unframed prints, paintings, phrases scribbled on hotel stationery: pieces that existed as studio debris, pinned up or left lying around, are brought together and given the context of a gallery. There's no single subject holding the show together, only the fact that all of it came out of the same working process — the large-scale and the throwaway, the considered and the offhand, sitting side by side as they might on a studio wall. Seen this way, the exhibition is less a statement than an unfiltered view into how the work actually gets made.
